Susan Morehead Obituary

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Susan Morehead, 66, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Born on July 14, 1959, in Fairmont, West Virginia, she brought warmth and kindness into the lives of all who knew her. Susan was a devoted wife to Claude Jerome Morehead and a loving mother to her children: Johnathon W. Toland, Angel D. Tillman, and Joseph S. Spence. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She also found immense joy in being a grandmother to Nautica M. Dawkins; Eric K. Jackson; Desmond M. Dawnins-Fluharty; Johnathon W. Toland Jr., Alana Moore and Kasydi Moore, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She also held a special place in her heart for her great grandchildren, Kynsleigh A. Jackson and Nylah J. Alexander to whom she devoted most of her time and love.

She is also remembered by her sister Josie A. Plyman, whose bond with Susan remained strong throughout the years. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Joyce A. Green and John E. Green Sr.; her brother, John E. Green II; and her sisters Kimberly A. Fluharty and Lisa R. Deems. Creative at heart, Susan loved making arts and crafts—a passion that allowed her to express herself and bring beauty into the lives of others. Whether crafting handmade gifts or decorating for holidays, she poured love into everything she created. Her generous spirit extended beyond creativity; she consistently put others before herself and was known for her caring nature. Those who had the privilege of knowing Susan will remember her as a woman who gave freely of her time and affection—someone whose presence brought comfort and joy.

May her memory bring peace to those who loved her and continue to inspire acts of kindness in the world she leaves behind.
